Love Notes with the scraps

As I started to clean up my Valentines cardmaking scraps I had to stop and play with all the bits and pieces.  The Marbled Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper, #164919 is back in stock, and totally worth the purchase - I used it for Christmas cards too!  I used a retired favourite die called Bouquet of Love.

***  The Trix  ***

* Use up your scraps, I cut the above piece of dsp in half and made two 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 square pieces of dsp.  Adhere one piece of dsp to Cherry Cobbler cardstock, a 16th of an inch bigger.

*  Adhere the layer to a 4 x 8 piece of Melon Mambo to create a 4 x 4 card.

*  Die cut another heart, or use a leftover, in this case my leftover was Real Red.  Fit it in to the centre of the cut out image on the card front, adhering with glue.  

*  Die cut a smaller heart using Gold Foil Sheets, #132622 and adhere with glue.

*  Adhere a tiny heart with dimensionals, the heart came from the Country Bouquet Punch.

***  The Trix  ***  for a cute little heart to tuck in to something special

*  Fold a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock in half, mine was a 2 3/4 x 7 scrap.  

***Trix, position the left side of the heart die slightly over the fold line so when it's cut out, it opens as a folded heart.

*  Adhere a heart from the Marbled Elegance Specialty DSP to cover the front of the folded heart. 

***  The Trix  ***  for a small little card with a secret message inside

*  Die cut a heart using the *Trix above from a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock.  My card base is a scrap that measures 2 3/4 x 7 and its folded in half to be a 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 inch finished card.  

*  Die cut another folded heart in a complimentary colour, I used Flirty Flamingo, then covered the heart with dsp - set aside for a moment.  

*  Adhere a 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 scrap of Melon Mambo cardstock to the backside of the card base.

*  Fit in the Flirty Flamingo folded heart into the opening and glue to the base of the card.  

*  Stamp sentiments wherever you wish.  I wanted the 'Love' on the front to be Melon Mambo ink on White cardstock, cut it out with scissors and pop up with dimensionals.  The 'You' is also adhered with dimensionals and stamped in Melon Mambo ink.  The secret message inside is Melon Mambo ink and was stamped before I adhered the folded heart to the card base.

Storybook Moments Scrapbooking

Today's post is a series of pictures from my most recent scrapbooking project.  I used the Basic Black Album, #163883, and Variety Pack Photo Pocket Pages, #144205 with the Storybook Moments Specialty DSP, #164662, the Timeless Plaid 6 x6  DSP, #164678 and the Storybook Friends Dies, #164674.  The Storybook Moments Specialty DSP pack comes with two sheets of pre cut images, you'll see these fun little critters scattered throughout my pages.

***  The Trix  ***

*  Cut a  piece of Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper, adhere with Multipurpose Glue to the inside cover of the album to introduce the theme. 

*  This album is a gift so I made an envelope with Timeless Plaid DSP, and adhered it to the back inside cover with a little message.  

*  The Storybook Friends Dies have sweet little frames.  I chose colours from the DSP's to coordinate with the pictures.  ***Trix, each page has a frame and critter,  which provides a bit of symmetry and flow to a scrapbook with many different photos and colours. 

*  Add embossed layers to the picture slots, when they relate to the pictures.  I used the Meadow Moments Embossing Folder to enhance pictures from the Butterfly Conservatory.

*  I also cut out critters from the DSP when they fit too.  Added in extra shapes like the hearts and butterfly for journaling.

Starstruck Embossing Folder Freebie for a 60th BDay

Today's card uses a mashup of products.  Can you guess where they all come from?  I love combining old faves and new products, and I'm always amazed that I can pull together products from a couple of years back and they coordinate so well with the new, with just a twist.  The scale of the stars within the Starstruck embossing Folder coordinates with the stars on the Dandy Designs DSP - how cool is that!  

The 'happy' & '60th' are both stamps from Paper Pumpkin.  The banner and balloon come from the retired Celebrations Tag Dies.  The colour choice was chosen for a themed turquoise and orange birthday celebration, I used retired Mango Melody and Tahitian Tide.

*** The Trix ***

*  Adhere the Mango Melody dsp to a Mango Melody 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base.  The dsp is a 1/16th of an inch smaller to create a tiny border.

*  Emboss a 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 piece of Tahitian Tide cardstock using the Starstruck Embossing Folder, #164972.  It's a free Sale-A-Bration product when you spend $75, until February 28th 2025.  

*  Adhere the embossed layer to a Basic White cardstock layer a 1/16th of an inch bigger.

*  Die cut the banner and balloons using dsp and cardstock.

*  Stamp the 60th with Tahitian Tide ink on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock a little bigger than the banner, and adhere to the banner with glue.

*  Stamp the happy with Mango Melody ink on Basic White cardstock then cut out with scissors.

*  Adhere the embossed layer to the card with glue, adhere the banner layer with dimensionals, adhere the 'happy' and balloons with dimensionals.  Embellish with twine of choice, I used Tahitian Tide variegated twine.

Celebrate the Paper

Marbled Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper is luscious.  It's a combo of reds and pinks, whether you favour Real Red or Cherry Cobbler, the reds are swirled together with Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo in this beautiful paper.  It stands alone, I've just added a few hearts and viola - super simple cards!

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches, #659 to keep the placement of the hearts and sentiment clean lined and simple.

***  The Trix  ***

* Cut dsp to the size of the card front, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and adhere.  *Trix, change up the card base colours to enhance the colour within the dsp.  Cherry cobbler, Real Red, Melon Mambo or Flirty Flamingo.  I used a piece of dsp a smidge smaller for the Flirty Flamingo card base to pull out a bit more of the Flirty Flamingo from the lighter section of dsp.

*Trix, match the direction of the colourful swirls to the orientation of the card.  I wanted the colours to flow vertically on this portrait card. 

*  Cut out a variety of hearts using the various punches and dies you have on hand.  *Trix, I chose the Country Bouquet Punch because the whimsy and curvy lines seemed to fit with the swirly blotches of colour.

*  Adhere the hearts randomly but horizontally across the top third of the card.  

*  Stamp your favourite sentiment and adhere to the card with dimensionals.  The sentiment is from the January 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I used Melon Mambo to match the card base and because its a wonderfully saturated colour for this style of font. 

*Embellish with Gold Twisted Thread, #164603 and whatever gold dots and sequins you have on hand, or the current Gold Textured Adhesive Backed Dots, #164027.  *Trix, add  various sizes and styles of gold embellishments to add interest while complimenting the gold droplets and blotches on the paper.
